Los Gatos, named for the mountain lions that still inhabit the area, was a destination for American pioneer farmers and loggers. The town grew up around the 1850’s flourmill established by James Alexander Forbes. The mill was also known as Forbes Mill, which still stands as a historical museum behind the high school. With a desire to capture the history of Los Gatos, the restaurant was aptly named Forbes Mill Steakhouse.
